Why saying ‘I do’ to an Elopement Wedding, may be the best decision you’ve ever made.
With all that’s going on in the world today, more and more couples are turning to weddings with smaller guestlists. Micro and elopement weddings are definitely a growing trend for 2023-24 with the majority of my couple’s choosing elopements for their nuptials. But what does an elopement mean? Historically, couples who eloped did it on the spur of the moment or secretly so they could not be stopped. Elopements in the modern world, however, don’t necessarily equate to a guest list of zero and a rushed theme – they can be so much more significant and meaningful. Many couples plan their elopement for up to a year in advance and still have all the beautiful finishing touches of a traditional wedding day.
Modern elopements take many forms, such as a simple ceremony and a wild night out or an intimate garden ceremony with a chilled-out evening. Adventure elopements however, have become increasingly popular, with couples choosing to be close to the ocean, connect with nature, and get married in a remote destination – and many of my couples are choosing to do exactly that.
Couples choose elopement weddings over large, expensive traditional weddings for a number of reasons but mostly because they want an intimate day with all the romance wrapped up in a ‘just the two of us’ experience. Besides this, elopements are perfect if you want a stress-free day and have freedom to create your wedding, your way - you only have to please yourselves (and without the family politics!) so there’s more time to relax and enjoy your day from start to finish… (not to mention, it will allow you to save money for your wish list beyond your wedding).
